10.00 (excellent) | Well written, well animated, and guess what? Even pretty well dubbed! COMPLETELY changed my opinion about Ocean Group, not to say I had a bad opinion of them, but this work in particular made me view them in a much more professional light. You pretty much know where this is going from the get-go: Immature smarty-pants starts playing God and corrupts himself all for the "sake of a better world" in which the good live out their lives whereas the evil are punished by death.. Oh yeah, this is SO going to backfire and end up being HIS demise. We all know crime doesn't pay, right? The story's personal morale: "Absolute power corrupts absolutely". | ||

I didn't think it was possible but I have found a Gundam series that has overthrown SEED Destiny's reign as my
"Most Hated Gundam Series". Let me put it this way - if I have to search YouTube just to get an explanation
on the basic opening plot, (i.e. "In the year RC XXX, the Earth Sphere has so-and-so founded by blah, blah, blah)
I'm sorry, but you've already failed in basic storytelling. The plot (or lack thereof) is ULTRA convoluted
and character arcs and motivations are all random and make no sense, and even when you do learn of the plot (after
repeated viewings and googling) I'm still left with the basic question of "And I'm supposed to care
WHY?" The only saving grace this series has is in its art and music.
Even director Tomino himself admitted to screwing up during production and thoroughly apologized for the series. Hell, he even went so far as to give himself a score of 15/100!!!! It's own director admits that it's an utter train-wreck. If I could sum this series up in one word, IMO, it would be "pretentious". As if the series in itself is saying, "Don't know what's going on? Learn through the actions and exposition and try to keep up cuz we're not waiting for you to catch up! There's a lot of in-universe terms and dialogue but you should be able to figure it out on your own. If not you clearly missed something but we gotta keep this show moving! C'mon, you need to watch the next episode!" How about "No." | ||

For me this was literally a match made in heaven: The franchise of Gundam combined with the then-booming genre of martial-arts Shonen! It's got battles, rivals, betrayal, love, sacrifice and super-powerful signiture moves and testosterone-inducing catch-phrases!!! Everything a guy loves!!! ^__^ | ||

7.25 (above average) | Hand-drawn cell animation at its finest for any era, number one. I found it entertaining from a plot standpoint, at least for a Gundam title anyway, but I was thoroughly impressed the wonderfully done M.S. battles - visually stunning and coreographed very well. I can definitely see why this is considered one of the great classics of both the genre and, yeah I said it, anime itself. | ||

I love how it doesn't take itself so seriously and the fact that the characters are able to utilize their attacks/abilities in an intellectual manner! Definitely wanna start on the manga! Maybe a bit overboard w/ fanservice & is it too much to ask to have a male love interest or something? Hell, even a minor male character? Just saying | ||
